This is a quick comment on my first impression of the FAN50PLUS controller/motherboard, manufactured by Dinosaur Electronics in the USA. their own mobile home and its various systems. I'm completely rebuilding the guts of a Suburban NT-34SP 34,000 BTU side channel propane stove. Mine was built in 1996 by serial number. It worked great when I bought my RV in 2016. Although he started showing age last year after more than 20 years of service I believe. In any event, I concluded that the time delay relay had failed, causing erratic operation. I figured instead of replacing the stove why not save about $500-600 and rebuild it. This led to the purchase of FAN50PLUS. After unpacking I was amazed. I have in my hands the most durable, best made electronics I have held in my hands since the 70's or 80's. It's even more sophisticated than the best of the best of that golden era. He's firmly in your hands. Nothing rattles, nothing feels weak, the very thick board itself doesn't give way. Since the late 1980's, as manufacturers tried to keep costs down, the thickness of the panels themselves has been getting thinner, leading to increasing flexibility. Flexibility is never a good thing when working with brazed joints. Especially since the soldering points do not use leaded solder. Glass as a cover over the entire motif. It's smooth and silky soft, but that seems to add to the feeling of confidence in this board. Also, I really haven't done much reading about how the board works. I'm just guessing, Ed, that'll be enough to keep the customers happy. I was also severely misinformed as I thought the fan function had nothing to do with the top fan moving the heated air back down. This fan feature seems like real value, hidden value, in older ovens like mine this feature replaces the need for that rather expensive time delay relay (TDR). Thoae can cost $40-50 for a dinosaur-made TDR and much more for other versions. So I save $45 by not buying this component. This reduced the cost of this board significantly to around $50. Yes, it still costs $95, but there's no need to shell out another $50 for this OTDR. So tomorrow I will change the boards, change the jumper and rewire as instructed. And I will come back to finish this review. Sorry I was so impressed I had to put it on paper. The last year has been very difficult for me, and even something as small as a new component in the furnace was really very encouraging. Thanks to the good people at Dinosaur.
