Turkish towels are not really "soft" especially when they are new. Beautiful colors, large size, beautiful appearance and strong, durable weave. I would buy a few more if it was in my budget. Anyway, I was hesitant to spend $ on something I don't "need" (I have some very old towels), but I'm glad I bought the two I made. I will put my rating below for the "suitable" towels because the quality was a bit poor. Had I not washed them I probably would have returned 1 of the 2 packs I bought. thin turkish towel, the texture and quality was just thin. i think the herringbone pattern is important. but there are also seams on the sides that pull up a bit and make it look like a cheap product made in china, i've only washed / hung them up ( no drying ) and haven't used them yet so i can't comment on their absorbency but since they are 100% cotton I'm sure they are absorbent enough to be hand washed. On the other hand, they were great! Same color/brand, Smyrna Turquoise, but the weave was (diamond?) and much stronger, with no weird rolled seams on the sides. The towels are terrible - they are adequate - but they look oddly cheap compared to the bath sized towels. They seem to be of the same quality/consistency.
