Review on KYB 331047 Excel-G Gas Strut in Sleek Black Finish: Superior Performance & Style by Andre Bennett

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Parts are good but delivery service needs improvement.

Ordered 4 KYB luggage racks for a 2003 Honda Element. The rear struts were a matched pair of KYB 344611 Excel-G gas springs made in the USA and were a real pleasure to install. be a matching pair for the front of the car. I was not happy that the frames that were delivered were made in two different factories. One came from Japan and the other from Malaysia. KYB USA has the information that all of their factories are the same, but I'd rather have a pair made by the same team of engineers and mechanics. I couldn't imagine how many times I would have to go back and reorder to get lucky and get the right pair shipped, so I gave up and installed two front stays. I noticed that the Japanese product seemed to have stiffer actuation and seemed to have better welds, metal stamping, and paintwork. Too bad I just got a matching pair of one or the other so I wouldn't have had an opportunity to compare. The car has a lot of mileage so I hope I don't have to figure out if one wears out before the other. Finally, the KYB package is not ready to ship the package, Revane punches the KYB box into the Amazon box and throws it away. loading dock. Inadequate packaging resulted in each of the KYB boxes being destroyed due to the rack bouncing and protruding at the top, bottom and sides. The correct thing would be to open the KYB box and stuff it with something to secure the shock for shipping. The existing packaging is obviously for the delivery of the pallets to the parts dealer, who can carefully handle the packaging until final delivery to the workshop.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Almost never
