Review on πŸ“· Pentax OFC-1 16GB Flu Card with WiFi Connectivity for Pentax K3 DSLR Camera - White by Jonathan Fernandez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works perfectly! But at this price you have to find a use for it. Note. This does not work on Windows.

This rating doubles this card and my old Kindle Fire HD purchased in 2013. This card gives me new ways to use my old Kindle. With this card you can use a web browser to watch TV, configure most settings on the Pentax K-3 and take a picture. It is designed for Pentax K-3. It works with other cameras but not fully. If you don't have a Pentax K-3 and don't have a specific use for it, I would buy a cheaper WiFi card. I have alternative wireless cards. But they don't control the camera like this one. Example: I can set up a camera next to a bird feeder. Then exit or enter my home like I did with the example I'm uploading. With this bird feeder I can be anywhere in my house and still see what's happening outside and take a picture or a movie. With other cards, you cannot transfer files over Wi-Fi until they are captured and saved to the card. On other cars, you cannot control the camera. I actually bought it to watch my back. I had a malignant tumor removed from my back last week. The doctors advised me to follow the wound healing process. But I can neither see nor touch the wound. That's where this camera, tablet, and Wi-Fi card combo comes in. It allows me to see what's going on and stay on top of things. (I'll skip uploading photos of my ugly scar.) This card connects to anything with a Wi-Fi connection that has a web browser. I connected it to my old Kindle Fire HD. It has a big enough screen and I can see more detail in it. Once a camera is connected, the camera's viewfinder and monitor will stop working while it is connected. The camera resumes normal operation once the camera or receiving device disconnects. The directions on the map advise you to use Google Chrome or Safari web browsers. The default web browser on the Kindle works fine. All controls are available when connected to the map via a web browser. This card is only 16GB. K-3 has 2 camera slots. I put this card in the second camera slot and the larger card in the first camera slot. I set up the camera to store the RAW files on the large card in slot #1 and the .JPG files on that card in slot #2. The software on this card only uses .JPG files. When transferring images, only JPG files are transferred. However, there is a workaround for transferring RAW images. Search Youtube for videos on how to do this. This card breathed new life into my old Kindle. But this card can allow any WiFi enabled device to control the camera while connected. I forgot to mention that I made movies with this card since I didn't. I think it only streams .MOV movies that K-3 creates. Update May 22, 2017 This map works perfectly on my smartphone, my kindle tablet, my linux netbook and my linux tower. But I can't get it right on my Windows 7 laptop. I downgraded 1 star because of a problem with my Windows computer. Any web browser I have works well with this card on my Kindle, Android, or Linux computer systems. But since it's tied to my Windows computer, it doesn't work properly with any browser. Menus are displayed in Japanese and none of the controls work. It doesn't matter if I use Firefox or Chrome. The results are the same on my Windows machine. Most likely the problem is in Windows, not the card. But that's why I'm deducting 1 star. Note. On a computer, not a tablet, you're automatically in landscape orientation on a computer, laptop, or tablet. In landscape mode, you automatically lose some controls. You can still take photos, but you won't have access to the K3's camera settings. All this automatically in horizontal mode. Tablets and smartphones work better with this card.

Pros
  • We look forward to
Cons
  • The list will be long.
