Edit (2 years later): I still love the wheels but I have to say. I've never broken one, but the rear wheel couldn't stay true. After repairing it once a week for a month, I ordered butted Sapim round spokes and rebuilt both wheels. The wheels are better. A lot of. Better smoother. heavier. More quickly. They simply drive better with round spokes. The rims show practically no wear after two years. The hubs are smooth as butter on a bald monkey. I used to be happy with this wheelset. $50 for knitting needles and after a few hours I'm even happier. I have ridden almost every brand of carbon wheels this side of lightweight and I have to say if you decide to spend 5-10 times more on a set of carbon wheels you are doing so out of vanity. The 38th is my second wheel set from ICAN. I bought the 50's with Novatec and CX Rays hubs a year ago. These wheels were rock solid and stayed perfectly straight. As for this 38, I've been riding it for a little over a month. Not exactly a hiccup. To be honest they are actually stiffer than the 50's and stiffer than my set of tall spoked aluminum wheels. Stand up, pedal, and the power goes straight to the wheels, propelling you forward. Throw the bike into a corner at over 40 km/h and there's no drama. You just walk in and you stay on your line. It seems to me that thicker needles make a BIG difference. And do not despair, because the spokes do not come from the "big name". They have the same shape and dimensions as the Sapim CX. The bushings are absolutely smooth and roll very well, even if they have only been in use for 4 weeks. Only the weight of the valve stem tilts the rear wheel when the bike is on the stand. I disassembled the rear hub before riding the wheels. The fork was severely lacking in lubrication. Not a big deal and it's easy to fix. I mounted Vittoria Corsa tires and Vittoria latex tubes. Smoothness and lightness deserve smoothness and lightness. Let's face it, if you're riding on "fast" wheels instead of "fast" tires, you're kind of missing the point. The wheels and tires just want to roll and hold speed well. easy and work great. The same applies to shampoos. As with the 50's, I'm impressed with these wheels. ICAN does good. Just don't tell your friends! Let them keep buying expensive wheels! suction cups.
