Worked great for a Harry Potter cloak. You have to hand sew it on but it ended looking pretty good. You have to sew them pretty far apart for it to look good and hold the fabric closed. It's kind of adjustable but doesn't hold well. Looks good though.Edit: You don't have to hand sew it. If your machine has a button stitch, you set the length to zero. Hand crank it to match holes while adjusting to right width and go to town. It takes a little work to match holes with needle and width but works great. Much faster and looks better than my hand stitching.
