Take that from a plumber accusing Moen of "bad engineering" because someone installed your shower valve incorrectly and didn't follow the instructions, it's absolutely insane. The person who installed the shower valve is to blame. Moen is one of the few companies that even offers something like this to fix someone's mistake. Moen is also one of the few companies, if not the only one, that has had very similar valves for decades, so swapping out a trim for something newer is an absolute no-brainer. And for the person who bought the wrong size. Did you say it's too big? This is because Moen makes extensions for both Posi-Temp and Moentrol valves. Your "two-stroke" valve is a Moenttrol so the kit was too big. Please investigate. We use these kits at work all the time because people stick these valves deep in the wall all the time and it saves you having to go through the tile or whatever behind the valve and move it forward. Paying $30 for something like this is a lot, as opposed to paying hundreds to start wall rediscovery. 5 stars for life.
