I bought this little gem to jot down ideas and notes on the go. It was specially developed for this task and fulfills it perfectly. Being developed by Sony never hurts either. I've always admired Sony electronics. Features I find useful: 1) Pause and resume recording 2) Listen to recordings at a higher speed than the recording 3) I can connect an external mic with 3.5mm jack 4) 3.5mm audio out 5 ) Device Lock 6 ) You can use it as a 2GB flash drive if you like, or you can use part and leave the rest for audio recording. In other words, when connected to my computer with a mini USB cable, it provides direct access to its storage space and shows up as a floppy disk drive on my PC. Problem: 1) When I forgot to lock the device and it's in my pocket. , if accidentally touched or pressed, the last record starts playing (a few embarrassing moments hardly escaped) 2) The battery lasts too long Ok. I'm just having fun. That's actually a plus. I haven't tried the fully included speech recognition software, but I did test it to see if it takes the recordings straight from the voice recorder and converts them to text, and it does. To get more accurate results, you need to get Dragon NaturallySpeaking used to your speaking style. Great little voice recorder and does the job very well. Good job Sony.
