MFJ needs some quality control

Received my tuner quickly, it was well packaged and had no damage in transit. Overall happy with the deal. My order was completed by GigaParts and shipped quickly. However, the product itself urgently requires increased quality control by the manufacturer. MFJ has a dubious reputation and it's obvious that they have a hard time finding the balance between quality and low prices. I would have preferred if they would spend a little more on the quality control process even if it means they charge a little more for products. As I said, my unit came completely unscathed from whatever shipment it had prior to it arriving at my place. When I opened the box with the tuner, everything was in perfect condition. It became a different story when I hooked it up to the system. I found that the tuner could not match either its own internal or its external dummy 50 ohm load (3:1 SWR was best). Using the bypass function for an external dummy load, the match was 1:1. Upon further investigation, looking into the device, I found that the variable capacitor on the side of the antenna T has curved blades, each of which joins its partner throughout the arc of rotation. Given that there was no physical damage to the shipping box, device box, or the device itself, there was no way this device could pass quality control before it left MFJ. Opening the device to investigate this issue has voided my warranty. I will either repair or replace the capacitor. In general, these are not bad devices, but please remember to study them thoroughly before using them in practice.
