Uniden Bearcat 980: Advanced 40-Channel SSB CB Radio with Vibrant 7-Color Digital Display Review

The radio itself is ok for the price but the display backlight keeps dimming after the radio has been on for a while. I sent the radio back because of this problem and they sent me a replacement. Unfortunately, the replacement does the same.

I wanted an SSB radio for a new van but didn't want to spend a fortune. This radio fits perfectly. I hooked it up to the K-40 antenna and as soon as I fitted it, I started talking. It's not the biggest radio out there but I've made lots of local contacts and spoken to a few on 27,385 lsb.

I don't write radio because I haven't used it yet. I've noticed a lot of feedback about not being able to turn off the beep when changing channels or using other button/button functions. To fix the problem (turn off the beep), press and hold the "ANL/NB” button for another beep! It's in the user manual, albeit poorly defined. No more annoying and unnecessary beeps.

This is my second 980. The first one I bought two years ago has a broken display which dims as the radio warms up. Everything works fine with this device. I've had it running for 48 hours now and everything is working fine. Regarding the delivery, I have to say that the seller sent immediately and the radio arrived a day earlier than planned. Needless to say I would buy from this seller again.

Not bad little radios for the price but when you have problems like me the radios just die, they leave you hanging, why? that is, instead of UNIDEN forwarding your packet to a new institution? NO, they will send it back to you. and leave it there. YOU need to FIND a Uniden number online and find the RIGHT place to send your radio in for repair. Then you have to wait at least 2 months.
