Poor Performance: Radioscanner

I've only had this product for 3 months and it's already broken. I can't communicate with others as he keeps falling apart. People can't hear me, but I can't hear them. Will not buy the item again, will have to replace it.

Check the screws! on Security & Surveillance

After about a month of minimal use the clip holding the microphone cable lost a screw and then the wires broke rendering the radio unusable and 2 screws for the power plug. loosen and pull out again with minimal effort

The best CB iv in 30 years in every way.

Best CB iv I've had in 30 years. I have used the Cobra CB in every way. Radio 29EX has more functions and built-in SWR to build in the antenna, the weather station has changed the color of the screen much more, you will like it. one of the 20 million Excellent workmanship Cobra.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Low maintainability

I recommend it! Ready to be scared when the NOAA alert first goes off. Lol

Like. But just a word of warning: NOAA will sound an alert for any nearby storm, even if you have your radio off. (The first time it happened it scared us. Lol) From what I've been told it's normal for NOAA CBs. But so far this feature has come in handy a few times. Strongly recommend!

  • Easy to read control panel

Arrived in perfect condition and works great.

This is a good radio with lots of great features. I can't find any reason to give it less than 5 stars! Not the latest model available, but more than enough to get the job done at a much lower price. I recently got back into saddle riding after a 35 year abstinence. Then I was driving through Southern California and stopped using CB because all the channels were clogged with nothing but junk. What surprised me is that now there is almost NOTHING ON ANY of the channels! Even in a big city like…

I had to go back. - Security and surveillance

I received this Cobra 29 LX MAX radio exactly 30 days later and ended up sending it back. Thank you Rewin! I bought a Cobra 29 LX (not a MAX) to replace. For unknown reasons, the built-in 2 amp fuse continued to blow (3 times) after the 1st week (model MAX). If the fuse didn't blow, sometimes it didn't turn on at all. I had to unplug the power cord from the back (losing the clock and user settings) and plug it back in to turn it back on. So far the 29 LX (no MAX) is working fine, hopefully it…

Parasitic Battery Discharge - Power Always On, Low Battery Self Destruct

This CB radio has a permanent battery discharge. It always consumes power even when the switch is off. Worse still, this device goes haywire (the best spec sheet I have) and self-destructs once the car battery is very low. This was installed in my jeep which often sits idle for days but starts at least once a week. Eventually, when the Jeep's battery died, this device started turning on and off constantly and making loud noises. This is the case even though the power switch for cb has been…

repeat repeat repeat

I bought 2 of these radios, one for me and one for my husband. He carries oversized cargo and I escort the cargo while falling in love with the radio I thought it would be cool he has a blue tooth and this and that but my husband wasn't as much of a fan as he likes. His usual Cobra is 29. Well I hooked mine up and ran for a few days and all of a sudden it started repeating itself. I thought maybe I just hit the snooze button. No! Every time I spoke, he would replay the last 10 seconds of…

VR6 sensitivity issue (ANT warning)

This device got great reviews but there was an issue that took a while to resolve and thanks to another contributor I hope the issue is resolved. The problem with the unit is that the ANT indicator is on when the SWR is below 3. Apparently the problem is with the 29 series. The problem is with the VR6 trimmer. Cobra has a link to the issue, google TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 10057 and the bulletin should be found. It provides detailed instructions on how to troubleshoot the ANT warning issue. I…
