VR6 sensitivity issue (ANT warning)

This device got great reviews but there was an issue that took a while to resolve and thanks to another contributor I hope the issue is resolved. The problem with the unit is that the ANT indicator is on when the SWR is below 3. Apparently the problem is with the 29 series. The problem is with the VR6 trimmer. Cobra has a link to the issue, google TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 10057 and the bulletin should be found. It provides detailed instructions on how to troubleshoot the ANT warning issue. I took the information and used an intuitive approach as I don't have the required tools as instructed. Here's what I did: First, unplug the CB. 1) Remove the outer protective panels. 2) Reconnect the device to the 12V power supply 3) Place VR6 between the back of the radio, between the antenna socket and the power socket. It looks like a round flat dial. Imagine a small coin. 4) Turn VR6 counterclockwise until VR6 stops. Be careful not to touch any other circuitry when connected to a 12V power supply 5) Turn on the microphone, speak into the microphone and turn VR6 clockwise until the ANT warning disappears. Then I attached the VR6 with a small piece of tape. 6) Turn off the 12V power supply, reinstall the outer casings, and then reinstall the circuit breaker. I currently have a transmit SWR of 1.5 on all channels 1-40 (prior to this VR^ adjustment I set the SWR with the new antenna with an SWR meter). I have yet to test range and clarity with another CB user. The VR6 function has been completed after troubleshooting possible cable and antenna issues. Current fitment: 2000 Jeep Wrangler spare tire mount. Wilson 305-830 18' Belden Coax PL-259/FME and Firestik 4' Firestik II FS 5/8. The actual test takes place on the track. Note. The sensitivity of the Cobra 29 Series VR6 may have been set incorrectly by the manufacturer and seems to move very slightly, which can contribute to sensitivity issues if you are bumped off the road or trail leaving a small piece of tape stuck on the VR6. .
