Review on K&F Concept 100x100mm Square ND Filter Kit ND1000 (10 Stop) + Filter Holder + 8x Rings with 28 Multi-Layer Coatings for Canon Nikon Lens by Paul Williams

Excellent square filter system. Good quality. Cozy.

I upgraded the 85mm (P) size I bought cheap, basically the plastic version on eBay. After buying the cheap version, I found that there are more filter options for a 100mm lens than for an 85mm lens - there is a trend in digital photography towards lenses with a larger front diameter. So my guess is that the industry as a whole is concentrating on 100mm and 150mm filters, and in fact you can buy 100mm x 150mm filters to use in both. Another thing I found after buying the cheap version is that it's not very user friendly. I don't think I've ever used it because the method of attachment was not at all easy and convenient. Not so with this one. This set is made entirely or at least mostly of metal. Lens adapter rings fit all my lenses and are very easy to attach. The square filter adapter attaches to the adapter rings and fastens with a different color button, making it easy to identify, which is very convenient for quickly removing it from the lens. In fact, I can reattach the lens cap even with the adapter ring still attached (apparently the filter is off). If you watch the video I've attached, you'll see that the filter adapter pops in and out fairly easily - my hand fiddled around a bit, but two-handed is a lot easier. This is a great feature which allows you to check focus without distorting the composition. especially when using a darker filter like the included ND1000. The filter adapter rotates freely on the lens adapter ring but remains secure. This is a handy feature that allows you to change the orientation of your filter when using a graduated filter or when creating your own effect by only sliding the filter part way through the holder. The holder has two filter slots for even more creative possibilities. And it's stiff enough that I can comfortably connect two filters halfway through the slot when using them as a second layer to the filter closest to the lens. The supplied filter is of good quality. I don't think it's glass but it's at least optical grade plastic that I'm okay with. at my amateur level. The protective case for the filter is very nice - thin, tight fitting, magnetic closure. It has a band that lifts the filter. The filters that came with my 85mm lens are almost 100mm long so I can fit them into this filter holder, but these filters, like the rest of this kit, are cheaper plastic so I don't expect that i will use them for a very long time. Pros: Good quality material Easy to use You can use one filter with all your lenses. You can buy any quality level filter that will work with this device. at the best price. No case or bag for lens adapter rings and filter adapters unless you keep the box. it came in - I use velcro to hold them together, then I have the unit and filter in a Crown Royale case (they're great for photography gear - don't shed). I would recommend it to anyone looking for a square filter system. It's easy to use. The cost may seem high at first, but you can quickly calculate the savings over buying filters for whatever size lens you have. And you have much more control over the effect you want to create.
