Review on 🌿 Enhance Your Terrarium with Exo Terra Moss Mat: The Perfect Solution for a Natural Habitat by Jessica Wallace

Do not buy this product, it may harm your pet!

Words cannot accurately describe my bitter attitude towards this product. I bought the Exo Terra Moss, Small, 18" x 18" because it was one of the few that fit in my chameleon cage; Obviously this is not the usual size for reptile blankets. I saw a bad review about it and decided it can't be that bad after all I've never had a problem with the Exo Terra brand. Substrate, need to invest more than the $11.14 I bought this product for. I also know that stock photos are taken to give the best impression of the product they are selling. But when I opened the Revain box and saw little green fluff, I started to feel a little disappointed, and that feeling came to me when I took the rug out of the box it was in. On some super realistic faux moss and box cutouts you can see that the product looks exactly like the picture on the box. It's actually green fun foam (the kind you can buy at a craft store) with strands of green fibers, which I think might be cotton because they were "glued" to it somewhat absorbently. Now when I say glued, I mean someone put some glue on the fun foam and glued the fiber to it, leaving a bunch of loose fibers that I ripped off. I ended up with a full arm and a lightly mottled bare rug. But they used green fun foam so it wasn't too obvious. At this point I felt a little ripped off but didn't want to go through the hassle of a refund. So in the cage it was going... kinda. It wasn't quite square and I had to trim it down a bit, but then when I cut it to size I found it still didn't fit. See they sell it to you rolled up in a box which isn't a problem with most pads and mats but the styrofoam never shrunk until I threw it away. With some buns it didn't seem like a big problem at first, but I feed my chameleon different foods, such as the dubia cockroach. Dubia don't like light and don't climb which resulted in them scurrying along the ground for cover until they found the buns and hid under the carpet which resulted in me fishing them out several times to try to make my chameleon eat you. just for them to come back. Well the product above is probably a two star product but what follows is why I think this rug deserves no stars at all and why I am very disappointed in Exo Terra as a brand. You know those loose strands I was talking about, well, the ones that were still attached when they were stretched, about two inches or more, which became a problem with feeders. Crickets and roaches, like other feeders, have hairs or spikes on their legs and exoskeleton that can become tangled in the mat. If you have a fast eater like a chameleon and it picks up tangled fibers you run the risk of crushing them, which can be deadly. I was able to prevent my chameleon from eating some fibers stuck to the cricket, which would probably have killed it. After that, I took out the mat and threw it in the trash. I ended up buying the Duck Smooth Top Easy Non-Adhesive Shelf Liner, Marble Gray that was recommended to me on a reptile forum. I've had it for a day now and it works great, it lies flat in the cage, it's easy to clean, the non-slip backing prevents it from sticking to the cage, but most importantly it doesn't harm my chameleon. .
