Review on 🎮 PS2 Controller Adapter for Wii/Wii U Remote - MAYFLASH W004 by Victor Olsen

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Lots of Wii PSX Controllers

Some Wii games can be played with the classic Wii controller. It is strange that the classic controller is very similar to the PS2 Dual Shock. I have so many PS1 and PS2 controllers that I really don't need another Wii-only controller. I already have a couple of PS2 Gamecube adapters and wanted to play Wii games with them. Found the Mayflash adapter via a Google search. What I love about the PSX to Wii adapter is that it plugs directly into the remote and is hot swappable without having to restart the Wii. All Playstation controllers are going wireless in the sense that they don't connect directly to the Wii button. Turbo for automatic fire. For configuring up to eight buttons on the Playstation controller in rapid fire mode. Simply hold the turbo button on the Mayflash and press the button on the PSX controller to turn it on. Now when you press the activated button, Mayflash will flash the LED. To disable Auto Fire, simply hold down the Mayflash Turbo button and press the PSX button again. Auto Fire only works with PSX controllers and only with Wii games that support the classic controller. How do analog joysticks differ from remote controls? I tested the standard PS2 dual shock controller. The Wii Classic controller has almost the same layout as the PSX controller. So both should work pretty much the same. PSX. WiiStart. +Select . -Gamepad. GamepadAnalog joysticks. Analog SticksX. bo. Square . TRIANGLE . xR1. ZRR2. RL1. ZLL2. LR3L3. Open HomeWii Menu The PSX analog sticks move the cursor well, but the remote is more responsive to a 'light' weapon. Much easier to aim with the remote control for accuracy. The remote and PSX controller will still work, point the remote away from the sensor bar to use the PSX controller. Geometry Wars The Robotron inspired a twin stick game with "vector" graphics like Black Widow. The remote works great, and now with dual analog - even better! One analog stick moves the ship while the other analog stick controls rapid fire. It's nice to move in one direction while shooting in the other. Please note that Rapid Fire is included in the game itself, Mayflash Turbo for buttons only. Arcade Twinstick At first I was disappointed that the gamepad and four face buttons were not used in the Dual Shock. This would kill using any PSX Digital Arcade Stick. I plugged in my Two Player Arcade Blaze Twin Shock just to see what happens. Flawlessly accurate game controls! Twinstick Heaven! The digital joystick really works! The arcade stick behaves the same as the left analog stick, and the four face buttons correspond to the right analog stick in Geometry Wars by default. Very strange considering that the stick usually defaults to using the joystick on a regular Playstation. This is perfect considering I modified the second player's joystick to work like the first player's face buttons. Geometry Wars is played just like the arcade game Robotron, but not with tiny joysticks, but with full-size arcade joysticks! So was Geometry Wars the only game to feature the unique Digital Twin Stick mode? I have another game I want to test to see if it was just a fluke. Sin & PunishmentIt's odd that there isn't a classic controller icon on the back of the game box. The original N64 imports used a single analog stick for aiming and buttons for lateral movement. The Wii actually plays better with a remote for aiming and a nunchuck for full movement. Now let's try the PS2 controller. The PS2 Dual Shock worked after I tweaked the settings menu for better button placement. The left analog stick moves the crosshairs, the right analog stick moves the character. Trigger buttons are weapons and dodges. Works great, although you can use the Wii Remote to quickly point where you want to shoot. A modified Blaze Arcade twin stick works the same as the dual shock. After reconfiguring the game settings, player one's joystick becomes a shooting pad, four buttons on the face are used for movement, which is also controlled by the second player's modified joystick. Launch buttons are set for weapons and dodge. Works well, but there's a trick to touching the fire buttons with two hands on arcade sticks. The Wii Remote is still the best aiming device. The Value of Mayflash So, is the Mayflash adapter better than just a Wii Classic controller? I can't give an exact rating because there is no comparison. However, the adapter allows you to use all of the different controllers available on the PS1 and PS2. Some others to try are a throttle, a dance pad, joysticks, and even the weird ones like Beatmania and the Densha De Go pull controller. Playstation has a variety of controllers that you can try with "Classic Controller" games that offer a different way of playing.
