I like to heat water for tea in this kettle. It's so cute and humorous! It brings a touch of humor to my kitchen. It's lined with durable enamel for easy cleaning. The lid is not hollowed out, but covered with a stainless steel overlay. The outside is easy to clean with soap and warm water. I leave mine on the stove so the fat gets on it sometimes. The downside of this kettle is that the whistle isn't very loud so you'll have to test it to know when the water is hot. I love it so I'm willing to put up with it.
