Review on 🐾 LitterMaid Self-Cleaning Litter Box for Single Cat - Blue by Candice Lopez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Perfect product if you use the right kitty litter

This is the best pet product I have ever had! I have two 11 year old cats and have tried many litter boxes including semi-automatic ones. I had to clean all kinds of them daily otherwise they stunk and my cats didn't want to use them. But this product saved my days: I didn't clean the litter for a week, it was still clean and didn't smell for a week without cleaning!) The negative impressions I read in Revain were noise, disposable containers and stuck dirt for raking. Here's my experience on these things: The noise is no more than a hair dryer, so it doesn't bother me much. Disposable containers can be a problem if you always have to buy them. However, this is not necessary as you can reuse them by using garbage bags. I can recommend you to use double containers and lids to make it more stable. The most common problem was things getting stuck in the tines and bottom of the box and the motor had trouble moving forward through the sticky stuff. I've tried 6 different cat litters for the best results and 2 of them didn't have these issues at all. The two fillings were light, one the non-clumping silica-based filling and the other plant-based. Any brand of non-caking silica and/or plant-based caking fillers work very well. Here is my experience: - Clumping of bentonite residues: Dirt can get stuck on the rake and you have to clean the rake and the floor. But feces and urine get into the container, even though they can power the motor. It is necessary to clean the floor, usually by emptying the box. But it does not smell, except for those stuck on a rake. Result: not very practical - Non-clumping bentonite mat: sticks a little to the rake, but a lot to the ground. Because urine doesn't get into the container and doesn't pick up much odor, it has a strong smell. Therefore: not recommended - Clumping plant-based litter: does not get stuck in the rake or on the ground, due to its lightness it does not burden the engine during operation. Works perfectly on the box. However, my cats carried light pieces of putty on their paws to other rooms, so I had to refuse to use them. Result: recommended. Non-Clumping Plant Litter: Similar to non-clumping litter. Since urine does not get into the container and has low absorbency, it smells. Also, he's a bit stuck on a rake. Result: not recommended. Clumping Pebble Litter: Although it's meant to clump together and collect urine in the container, it doesn't clump. The urine causes small pieces of silicate to stick to the ground and become harder and higher over time, so use a rake. Cleaning the floor from adhering dirt is quite difficult. Result: not recommended. Non-Clumping Silicone Filler: While it doesn't clump and urine doesn't pool in the container, it works great! With two cats, the litter does not smell for up to a week. Since fillers are light, they do not stress the engine, so the engine is ideal for feces. After a week I emptied the container bag and all the garbage. There was no suction in the rake or at the bottom. Conclusion: highly recommended! I can recommend emptying and cleaning the entire crate and raking weekly for best product performance. very good for two cats. The first product I had didn't work properly, the motor stopped working in the middle of cleaning. But when I sent the video to the support team, they immediately sent me a new product and the new one works very well. That is just as important to me as the function of the product. Without the very good customer service from Revain and LitterMaid I would not have bought a new one and would not use it either.)
