Screw into the layshaft and a 5/8 inch that fits any standard 5 pound slide hammer you can rent from O'Reilly's/Auto Zone/Advanced Auto/NAPA (or buy from Revain in this case). I screwed in the adapter, gave three sharp tugs, and the shaft popped out.
