After weeks of thought and fiddling, I replaced it with a 5/16" OD, 3/16" ID clear vinyl tube (fits the 2000 model). civilian nipple.) and silicone on the other end to make it airtight. Then I had to use a strong magnet and glue it to the existing magnet to make it stronger. I also had to replace the inner tube (use an aquarium tube). The IT now works as it should. Now works like a charm. After all the mods I've done I've upped the rating to 4 stars because the interior otherwise works well. It actually works as written - if you change it.
