Review on πŸ”Œ Cable Matters Multiport Adapter: Unlocking Industrial-Grade Electrical Connectivity with Ethernet Support by Todd Mohr

Revainrating 5 out of 5

UPDATE: Failed after 3 months

Well, I really liked the adapter, but it only worked for 3 months. First the Ethernet port failed, then the DVI port. Now it only works as a USB hub. Unfortunately I've reverted to my squid of Apple branded adapters but at least they work. Original Review: There were some issues with the DisplayPort version of this adapter in a 2015 MacBook that I was able to test with the new ones, which I believe was due to the lack of support for some standards. But this adapter works great. I now have more USB ports, faster Ethernet (Gigabit), one less adapter (HDMI -> DVI) compared to the regular Apple AV adapter. ?) so it didn't cause as much physical strain when the MacBook is on a stand (mStand rain design). However, this issue seems to be present with all USB-C adapters, so I suspect it's something on purpose, like its design or physical limitation behind this FWIW, it's a bit longer than Apple's.

Pros
  • DVI USBC docking station adds Gigabit Ethernet, USB 3.0, DVI and 60W charging power over a single USB-C connection; No USB-C charger is required to operate the USB-C DVI Hub Adapter with USB power delivery; The DVI USB-C Dock supports USB-C power delivery and charges your laptop at up to 60W while it is in use.
Cons
  • Slightly crumpled
