I bought this to test on the stairs in my house. We have a longhaired dog and carpeted floors, so I had no choice but to lug the vacuum up and down the stairs twice a week. This magic broom is really MAGIC! I tested this by sweeping the kitchen and hardwood floors with a regular dust broom. It's wide and soft and I think it catches all the dust and dog hair effectively. After that I came back with a magic broom. I was surprised! So much dust and dog hair collected on me that I had no idea they were being left behind. I know my floor is clean now. Then I checked on the stairs. Big mistake! I had so much dirt, dust, and dog hair from the carpeted steps that I had to re-sweep the hardwood floors at the bottom of the stairs. It worked great. The steps have never looked better and I didn't have to break my back raising and lowering the vacuum. I will be going this route again once a month to give the carpet a deep clean, but for now the magic broom is doing its job.
