I bought this to find spots in the house where my cat was having trouble vomiting. It did a good job even with low light in the room. Of course you will see it much more clearly in a dark room, but this light works much better than the smaller ones due to the number of LED bulbs. It uses more batteries, which is to be expected given the number of LED bulbs. . I don't feel that the flashlight gets hot or warm on the handle. You can feel the warmth of the lamps when they're in use, but that's to be expected. All in all great for my needs. I haven't used it to find scorpions but I think it will definitely show them! I would recommend using it to find stains left by pets or humans.
