My cat loves the sisal scratching post. Another one of hers died so I bought this one. It comes in three parts in a surprisingly small box. The two pole pieces are screwed together and then screwed to the base. After assembly, the whole structure is very solid. My cat is only 10 pounds but has never knocked over a pole. She tends to arch her back and scratch the bottom half or middle of the bar rather than the top. It saved my sofa and the cat is happy. If you've never trained a cat on a scratching post, I recommend rubbing and sprinkling catnip on it, repeating if necessary. It took me a few weeks to get to this post but now she uses it exclusively. (She only took the couch a few times before I could talk her out of this behavior and used the mat for a while before finally deciding it was for the best.)
