You need something like this to mount the Garmin Montana AMPS mount

Used on an ATV. It's a good solid mount, no vibration or slipping. I kept the surface mount and used the handlebar mount that I already had to attach to the quad. After my initial review, I purchased 3 more of them to install an AMPS mount for Montana on a UTV and also installed 2 more and installed on a friend's cars. No problems after 6+ years of use.
