Every electronics enthusiast has a huge box full of various components that have no other purpose than to take up space. You may have separated them by type. If you're ambitious enough, you can even split by value! Hard to do when you have LEDs, transistors and diodes! Not with this thing! Plug in the transistor, press the button and viola! Not only does it tell you the type (PNP or NPN), it also tells you the bias! Is it a zener diode or a standard? Stick it in, press the button and it will tell you! And it will even show you the excitement! It's not so good for capacitors. Probably because mine are all so old they've probably changed their levels in the last 20 or so years! But it fits in 20%.
