I bought these for my 7 year old because he is very anxious before bed and always wants to talk to his older sister but it becomes a great challenge and distraction. then big bedtime fight because he's already full of energy. His sister also has video systems in the room and he always breaks into her door to ask her to play. Now all he has to do is press a button to talk to her and she can calm him down or answer his questions about video games. She still maintains her privacy and doesn't get mad because he doesn't knock on her door anymore! Win, win! They are brightly colored and the signal range is good. We use rechargeable batteries so I'm not sure about battery life yet, but they go into battery saver mode after so many seconds of inactivity!
