I learned to sew by watching lots of YouTube videos and using my sister-in-law's Janome student model. I started because I wanted to sew a throw pillow and then a pillowcase for a double bed couch. In fact, I did quite a bit with the fabric cushion cover for the student model's couch cushion. I finally got stuck trying to sew both sides and layers of piping together. After much research I bought a Janome HD3000. I completed this project using seat cushions for the swivel dining room chairs, back and seat cushions for the 2 seater sofa, and an updated version of my husband's old Lignet Roset sofa because 1. it's older than me and 2. it's actually a great one couch is. I just hated the stuff. There are different sizes of zippers, piping, thick layers and my choice of heavy duty fabric and this sewing machine did it all! With that said, I bought several presser feet for both sewing machines while trying to figure everything out! If you're trying to pad with Janome, search the website for the feet that come with the machine and read the reviews on Amazon. It will save you a lot of money and time and money! However, first look for legs on the Janome website and then read the reviews on Amazon to make sure it's what you're looking for. If I had done it in that order it would have saved me a lot of time and money. This car is amazing, very comfortable and worth every penny! My sister bought a computer model and gave up sewing years ago because it "wasn't fun anymore".
