I just used this for a BLC land navigation course in Ohio. The Revain military compass costs about $72, and I bought it in hopes I could lose it without making a fuss about BLC supplies. It was really handy for ground navigation with asthma. The eye opening allows you to accurately assess how far you are travelling. There are two downsides. The altimeter caused two small problems. First, he did not let any light through the closed lid. 2. I don't use elevation grading and it can't be removed in the field without damaging the compass. The second cheat is the cheat you get with most compasses. If it is not aligned, it will not provide accurate readings. This is great quality and helped me get all the marks in the ground navigation test. Great price, quality materials. There is a pouch that can be worn on the belt. The purchase is definitely worth it.
