There was conflicting information about the material in the description of this item (both aluminum and stainless steel are listed) but I was like, what the heck, I will try it at some point. I received the item and found the box itself to have 314 stainless steel construction as well as a list of all the reasons their stainless steel product outperforms their competition's aluminum products. I was excited to see this. I pulled it out of the box and noticed that the thing is hearty, "quality". Brilliant. So far, so good. Then I examined it more closely and found that the canister itself was machined (an unusual way to make something like this out of stainless steel, but ok). Then I noticed that the machined metal surface had a glossy clear coat applied to it (why put a clear coat on stainless steel? That's becoming more and more suspicious). So I decided to do a little experiment. I weighed the canister on a digital scale, determined its volume using the simple water displacement method, and calculated the density from those two values. This resulted in a density of approximately 2.9 g/cm^3. The density of Al is 2.7 g/cm^3 and the density of stainless steel is closer to 7.5-8 g/cm^3. Even with an extreme error in my density experiment, dammit, this thing still can't be made out of stainless steel as advertised. It might actually be a decent product, who knows. It seemed like a good price at the time and subjectively it felt like a solid quality product in the hands, but the fake hype really annoyed me so I returned it without actually testing it. If you like buying from a company that lies to your face, then this could be a great option for you. Personally, I would rather pay more for something like this from a company that is honest and direct about what they sell! (My $0.02)
