Didn't work in grocery storage

I usually buy six bagels a week and eat one bagel a day. If I wrap the bagels in plastic but don't refrigerate, mold will sometimes form on the fifth day and of course on the sixth day. So I refrigerate three of them for the last three days of the week. I put fresh paper in a bag of bagels and left them on the table for a week. In fact, by the fifth day, mold appeared on the remaining bagels. The maple scent on the paper carries over to the bagels. I didn't really care, but the smell is said to be unbearable.
