You have to reckon with that! If your child freezes in it, I don't know what to say. Unless of course they get wet. Then they just get cold. These things are thick, so soft and WARM on the inside! We had trouble keeping our little one warm in the barn as it was not heated. That solved the problem and we can take riding lessons as usual on these cold winter days. It also makes her happy as she is a kid who has to work really hard to choose breath instead of being with her horse. They're also pretty darn durable as she's rough with everything in the shed. They don't shrink and my daughter loves them - she says they look like pajamas. They would be good for children
