I don't often write reviews so I think this is number three for me. But after using cheap aluminum squares that fool you after a few months, I figured I was ready to move on to a quality combo square. I read all the negative reviews but decided to give the iGaging 12" 4R Combo Square a try. Firstly, it's not a Starrett, but it doesn't cost that much either. It's true, however. Edges, it didn't take long to get the cast - and to get rid of milling marks that leave hard, sharp, rough edges. After unboxing and checking for squareness I spent 30 minutes with a medium grit oil stick on all edges and went over it very much. I also removed the powder coating from all moving parts and now have I get a really accurate angle that just works and is fun.As a hand tool carpenter I'm used to customizing everything I buy, be it antique or brand new, so sanding down sharp/rough edges didn't bother me and to remove the powder coating With very little effort in this square, you get a tool that's actually a pleasure to use. If not, choose f for the PEC brand.
