Inaccurate due to poor production.

I liked that it came quite quickly. But what I didn't like was that it wasn't processed properly. It wasn't entirely correct. Many ridges. Only one side of the gauge could be zeroed, and there the protractor would be off 16 in 12 inches. The square was at least 64th behind in 12 inches.

Out of the box, twice.

I did my homework between Starrett and iGaging and decided it was worth it as many reviews said iGaging was comparable in price. I received my first iGaging square combo kit and did a "line test" to check squareness, but it failed miserably. Suspected doubts and demanded an exchange. The 2nd combo square also failed, albeit by a smaller margin, but still unacceptably. I'll pay the same money and get a Starrett head, and in time I'll buy other heads. A square of a damn egg isn't worth it if it's

Worth the price

I was primarily concerned with the accuracy of squareness, so I compared it to my Starrett Combo Square, drawing lines with a 0.5mm pencil and both sides, right and left, checked. Dead. The same with 45s. The markings on the blade are also precise and easy to read. The blade snaps firmly into place, but when you slide the blade over your head there is a very slight roughness that I haven't investigated yet. That's why I've lowered the rating, but for the price it doesn't matter much and…

better than squares in big boxes at a reasonable price; not a superstar.

As others have said; You get what you pay for. Way better than anything sold at hardware stores or hardware stores, but not in the Starret or PEC leagues at all. The rule has nice deep markings that contrast well with the front of the rule. Some thin steel wool and a drop of anti-friction varnish helped. One thing I don't like is what happens when you type the rule in the header to get the maximum usable length of the rule. The track along which the ruler moves inside the head has a ridge at…

Look at the arrangement of the numbers ones on both sides before you buy

Well this is my first nice square. I have always used store bought squares but since my woodworking changed I wanted a nicer one. It's very difficult for me to get a ruler in a pen, as well as other attachments. The threads feel like sand on it, but after brushing with a steel brush and graphite, they are smoother. It's definitely heavy and well made. My big gripe with this is that when I have a square page, say left, the 1" mark on the outside edge is down. If I rotate it to the right, the 1…

Great value for money

I don't often write reviews so I think this is number three for me. But after using cheap aluminum squares that fool you after a few months, I figured I was ready to move on to a quality combo square. I read all the negative reviews but decided to give the iGaging 12" 4R Combo Square a try. Firstly, it's not a Starrett, but it doesn't cost that much either. It's true, however. Edges, it didn't take long to get the cast - and to get rid of milling marks that leave hard, sharp, rough edges. After

As I'm slowly starting out with woodworking, I need more precise tools. The combo square I bought second hand 6 years ago was never very accurate and the holder was cast aluminum. So since I don't want to spend more than $100 on a Starrett I think a mid-range square would suffice and if I like it I'll end up buying a few other sizes. From that point of view, I'm close. In terms of fit and finish, it's good. Most importantly, it's not standard, it's pretty accurate, but it depends on how…

Great value for money - ideal for carpenters

Overall this is a really good combo square and well worth the money. It has a well machined cast iron head and an easy to read brushed stainless steel ruler. The center finder is a really nice addition too and I love that with this tool I really only have to pick out three nits: 1) The blade isn't 100% perpendicular to the head. When checking with my machinist's angle there is a streak of light where the blade meets the head BUT I can't put a 0.0015 inch (1-1/2 mil) feeler gauge in the gap. For

I already had one of those 12" combo squares but that was it without the goniometer and centering cap . In my opinion I needed both (I've had a Starrett combo before and as far as I can tell this is (a) at least as accurate and (b) this is heavier and VERY well made - and COMPLETELY the SUBJECTIVE impression of the Quality I get from this is slightly higher than what I got from Starrett (I still have it but I had a friend who does woodworking as a hobby and when we did projects together he gave
