Review on πŸ“ Enhanced 4-Piece Combination Square by iGaging: The Ultimate Premium Choice for Accurate Measurements by Ryan Foles

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Not without a flaw or two, but well worth the money and it has a good finish.

As I'm slowly starting out with woodworking, I need more precise tools. The combo square I bought second hand 6 years ago was never very accurate and the holder was cast aluminum. So since I don't want to spend more than $100 on a Starrett I think a mid-range square would suffice and if I like it I'll end up buying a few other sizes. From that point of view, I'm close. In terms of fit and finish, it's good. Most importantly, it's not standard, it's pretty accurate, but it depends on how critical you are. I would say it was around 0.002, maybe more, maybe less. It can be fixed and I'm not worried. What I don't like is that if you pull the ruler out of the base/holder, good luck getting it back. You will need to use a small nail, screwdriver or something similar to move the small piece in the groove to align it. ruler's grove. However, it's a royal pain to queue. Not a quick task. To make matters worse, only a few threads stick to the set screws. 1/4 turn is too much and it comes out. Costs money? Of course, but maybe there are better options. Who knows, maybe I got a bug. -TJ
