Background: I have 3 F8 baby puffers in a 10 gallon tank If you are unaware that this is an overstock once they get bigger I will be moving them to a much larger setup as they are now in my grooming salon for are on display for customers so I have to keep the aquarium clean. Now water changes are crucial for fugu, especially in a crowded tank. Changing the water as often as needed would often restart the water cycle, which isn't good for the fish. So when I saw the fluvial vacuum version I thought I might find a cheaper version online. I found a similar Fluval and it didn't have strong suction, so I decided to try this one. The item itself: On this model, the spout comes out in an "L" shape, which increases its width by about 5 inches. I needed a "skinny" to easily maneuver the tank. It seemed like I could customize it based on the pictures, and of course I can! I've added photos of how I assembled mine to fit the smaller tank. The suction power is strong enough to suck up all empty and crushed snail shells as well as normal things. The best thing about this model is that it has a pre-filter in a bracket to keep dirt out of the pump and damage the motor, the nose filter ends up trapping dirt particles and the water comes out crisp and polished. This shows how many water changes I will be doing to keep my water levels at a healthy level. So within 10 minutes I was able to assemble this item, plug it in, clean and put away the dirty sand cushion, happy with the results.
