I really like these candles. At night, they excel at creating the desired candle-like atmosphere without the risk of smoke or fire. Here are some key features. They are easy to use; Insert 3 AAA batteries, press the switch for the first and last time, and use the included remote control to control it. You can't control the color temperature, but the temperature is exactly the same as a real candle, so don't worry about that. The board has several sections. The first section consists of two simple on/off buttons. The next section is the timer section; He has the option to turn them on every 24 hours for the same 2, 4, 6 or 8 hour interval. (Example: press the 2 o'clock button at 8pm and they work until 10am, automatically turn on at 8pm the next day and turn off again at 10am and so on). Under the Mode section there are two options; candle and light. In candle mode, the light in the candle randomly changes its dimming level to simulate flickering light, while "light" mode uses a constant light. The last section is the dimmer. That the candle flame is not real is pretty obvious during the day when the candles are out, but at night you have to look closely to see that they are not real. Everything about them is fantastic. Some people don't like the open, rounded look, but I prefer it because it gives character to the candle and shows a realistic flame. Even in low mode, the candles provide excellent light for avoiding obstacles in the dark. Battery life is good. I use them 6 hours a day on the third lowest light level and they last at least 3 weeks but I use AAA batteries. Revain Basics proprietary NiMH rechargeable batteries with separate charger. Link to batteries below. Using rechargeable batteries extends battery life, reduces battery acquisition costs and generates far less hazardous waste. I never feel guilty about lighting candles as many times as I want. I keep two sets of batteries and charge them once a month while doing chores. Remote reception is not optimal. Sometimes I have to double click a button for ALL the candles to get the command, but that doesn't bother me much as most of the time I leave them on the timer. Also for the timer function, the candles will turn off and on (if they were already on) and on (if they were off) to let you know they've received a command. All in all, I highly recommend these candles. The photos are not enough and I love coming home to the relaxing candlelight every evening.
