I just got back and read the reviews on this product. I wish I had done that before I bought it. I thought I knew but apparently I don't because I have the same problem as many other reviewers. The base does NOT rotate! It's so rigid that the top doesn't rotate regardless of the bottom. The bottom has a foam mesh to protect the surface it sits on, but it has no suction or material on it to keep it from moving with the top when you rotate it. (Also, the surface of mine had chipped in two places near the edge. However, this does not affect the cutting surface.) I would not recommend this product if you need a disc cutter that spins freely. Damn. Later that day. I've spent some time figuring out how to get this working as I REALLY want to use it in my current project. I tried putting a carpet mat underneath so it would match the countertop better. It worked. view, but still difficult to rotate. Finally, simply cut a piece of cardboard to fit the floor and place it between the circular rug and tabletop to easily rotate the entire unit as a unit. It works out. like, something like. It hurts to turn the whole block, but at least it moves now. It's a shame how consumers have to keep lowering their standards to work with what's available at affordable prices. so sad. updated 3/24/21. I returned this item and received a very prompt and courteous refund from Revain.
