Beautiful lights to match the bulbs

Appearance Hudson Lighting rates lamps at 200 lumens (equivalent to 13 watt incandescent lamps), which matches my observations. They're great for mood lighting, but I'd recommend something brighter for activities like reading. Incandescent bulbs give off a pleasant and realistic flicker. If your lamp has no or minimal glaze, the flickering will be more pronounced, like a wood flame. A thicker frosting will dull the flicker and make the look more candle-like. I built my lightbulbs into an open flashlight that also creates a nice flicker on the ceiling. I've attached a video showing the three layers of glaze on my lamp (bottom to top): just a ball glaze, a ball glaze plus a sheet of carbon paper inside the ball, and a ball glaze plus two sheets of carbon paper inside the globe. I feel safe because the lightbulbs don't get hot. (For fun, I printed the clipart on copy paper.) Safety In a 73-degree Fahrenheit room with a flashlight, the hottest part of the bulb reached 117 degrees after 90 minutes. The flask cooled rapidly to 96 degrees when held for 15 seconds. I did the same experiment with a fully enclosed ball with no ventilation. After 90 minutes, the hottest part of the flask was 119, cooling to 98 degrees after 15 seconds holding. It takes about 5 minutes of exposure to 120 degrees to get a first degree burn, so I doubt these lights will ever cause a burn. I used a non-contact infrared thermometer to take all temperatures. Energy efficiency and costs LED lamps typically have a luminous efficacy (lumen/watt) of 30-90. These lamps are in the middle price segment at 67 (200 lumens/3W). Operating the lamp 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a week would consume 26.28 kWh/year at a cost of $3.34/year against the current national average of $0.127/kWh. I ordered three boxes in total, two for six bulbs. I noticed that two of the six bulbs took half a second longer to light up. I only notice it if I look directly at the lamp when I turn it on. I emailed Hudson Lighting asking if they were defective. Hudson Lighting's Tim replied that the slight start delay was just a manufacturing anomaly. Tim added that Hudson Bay covered the onions for up to two years. I was very happy with the response but it was nothing compared to the response time. I emailed at 7:23pm EST on Saturday and received a response 3 hours and 7 minutes later. I didn't expect a response from the lighting company over the weekend, especially not so quickly.
