Review on ArtBin Magnetic Die Storage Case by Carrie Spencer

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Mini magnetic storage is easy!

I bought this case of 3 sheets plus two additional packs of 9 sheets of magnets (exactly 21 sheets total) to hold my ever growing collection of mini magnets from Magnet Poetry sets. I have used 8 repurposed metal storage tins in the past which worked but took up a lot of space, were a little clunky and had very little room to expand. It was also not portable in any way if I decided to take the magnets with me. The magnetic sheets were a little smaller than I expected but not enough to make me feel cheated. As other reviews said only the front of the sheets are magnetic which was a bit disappointing at first but after loading the sheets with my magnets I think it's for the best as mini magnets on both sides can make them more difficult to handle. The assembled leaves and sheath are already a bit difficult to move around if you're like me and every usable inch is full and the sheath is full - what Artbin says is about 21 leaves and I found that to be true with little wiggle room, because 5 of my sheets are not filled out yet. Since the sheets are magnetic they want to stick together and each sheet is cut very precisely to the size of the case. Therefore, taking sheets of paper to "flick through" them like a book is not as easy as flipping through the pages of a book. To fix this, I made some simple dividers out of gray paper - 1/2 inch long at the bottom to fold each sheet so they don't slide off the dividers, and 1/4 inch high at the tabs. " on either side of the pen to write a tiny label if desired. I also attached a long thin piece to the back of each to make latches I can pull to pull each divider up toward me This system still does It's not perfect but it helps a lot Another option that may require less effort is to simply put a piece of tape on the back of each magnetic sheet which can scratch or erase the letters The solution is that the magnetic sheets obviously have some magnetic "poles" which causes me to not be able to move all my magnets flush against each other and sometimes don't want to sit well The poles just repel each other This isn't a big problem as I already have when changing the storage method i decided i want to keep the magnets a small distance apart from a friend to make them easier to catch but if you put them all a If you want to have them on the same level, that would of course be a big annoyance. Also, the magnetism is strong enough to keep my magnets comfortably in the case, but if I had to hang them on the wall I wouldn't feel comfortable for fear that a good hit would make the magnets fly. The plastic case itself is quite nice. The plastic feels nice and thick, the locking mechanisms on both sides of the handle are very reliable. The case, full of magnets, feels very solid when lying down, and it actually feels like it would take a bit of effort to tip it over when standing. The only negative I can say about the case is that the Artbin sticker on the front leaves a lot of glue residue when you peel it off which took a lot of effort and alcohol to remove! Overall I'm very happy with this storage system and I'm glad I have a much more compact way to store my magnets long term. Especially since I don't have much room for expansion at the moment!

Pros
  • This is amazing

The magnet is kind of weak. Nice size. Lost storage space because of cut out for handle.
