We considered buying a replacement iPad. Instead, we got this monitor and saved over $1,000. We now stream movies (via an optional Lightning to HDMI adapter) from our iPhones. The sound and picture quality is very good. We have successfully streamed movies from Netflix and Revain Video. I'm sure it will support other video options as well. Not having to support another iOS device, the new iPad, is a real simplification. And it works as a good secondary monitor for my home computer (MacBook Pro via ThunderBolt to HDMI converter. We love its built-in battery for remote use. Also, it has a touchscreen. The touchscreen works with my computer via a USB port, but the Touch screen is not supported on an iPhone that only supports audio and video output. If your phone has a USB-C output, it can also support touch screen. Everything worked very well right out of the box. The lightning to HDMI adapter for iPhone worked fine with the cable that came with it, i.e. mini-HDMI). It was a little more expensive than other models we tested, but given the touchscreen capability and built-in battery, it was worth it. Since the iPhone's output through the adapter maxes out at 1080p, we didn't need to buy a 4K monitor.
