Review on ⚡ TII 212 Surge Protector for Broadband Cable and Satellite TV with Lightning Protection, 75 Ohm, 5-1500MHz by John Mahfood

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Looks normal, with a caveat

This review is a bit speculative because there's really only one way to know if it actually works and I'd rather not take a flash to find out. The product has been well recommended and appears to be excellent value for money. . It fits perfectly in the inlet box in place of the FF ground sleeve; The installation took all five minutes. The service was not affected after installation; There was no significant loss of signal on my dash cam's diagnostic screen. Internet access and speed were not affected. The reason I don't give it five stars is because of a rather unpleasant surprise I got when reading the manual: it says to use it with RG59 cable only. In fact, the company was adamant on this point, specifying adapters (not included) on each side for use with the RG6. The product description states "It is specifically designed for today's broadband signals carried over coaxial cable." I'm not aware of any modern cable application that still uses RG59, including my own. I didn't use adapters; No idea what the implications are, but I hope it's not a security issue. In any case, this does not inspire 100% confidence in the product. At the very least, this limitation should be clearly stated in the product description. So five stars for the device itself, minus one for the incomplete product description.
