You get what you pay for.

I bought this monopod to replace my old Vivitar monopod that eventually stopped working. Great low cost monopod with great stretch. The only issues I had was that it was too bright. I like to mount my GoPro on it and use it as a cheap "still camera" when I'm shooting action. This monopod is lighter than the previous one, so it swings too much when walking. The footage looks awful with everyone rocking back and forth. I think I'll have to open it up and fill it with fishing weights or something to make it a little heavier. The clasps for the extension are very tight, no slipping, which I like. My eldest, when you lean against him, he slides down. It kind of broke after a few uses. I was walking (on Oahu) wearing a Chinese hat and as I walked I saw the "tip" of a tourist stick on the ground. By spike I mean the base of the pole, the little spike that you drive into the ground. Since I had no bags, I threw it away. When I got home I looked at my monopod and this tip belonged to MY monopod! The floor fell out! I don't use it as a camping stick with my weight on it, more as a tool to keep my videos steady. So if you bought one, I would check to see if yours is still leaking. maybe some glue? Update: had to remove a few starts, it's already falling apart. Quick release does not want to loosen! Once you've placed the camera on the mount, it's pretty easy to detach and reattach, but you can't detach the mount from the camera! The screw just spins freely so it doesn't come loose from the camera! If you don't have the tongs with you, you won't be able to remove them from the camera. No problem if you want it permanently on your camera, but I live for switching between different cameras. I'll try hot glue and see if that helps.
