I bought this right at the beginning of December 2016. Pretty much exactly 12 months later the drive starts to do that intermittent BUZZZZZZZZ. In the past few months, he's started to earn real money. crispy sound. Noise and crunch combined? Sounds like an old 3.5" drive from the past. It passes SMART tests well, but that's not normal behavior and I'm afraid it's about to give up at any moment. Seagate warranty. New disc just arrived. It doesn't seem to hum or crackle, so it's an improvement, but I'm hoping to get through the data transfer from the old drive to the new one without a loud noise, a crisp ride with one catastrophic failure.
