This is exactly what I needed to power and run my 5.25" Blu-Ray burner for use with my laptop. This recorder used to be in a desktop PC but I sold it and took out the drive knowing I wanted to use it. it's a good fit. As a test, I copied 4 Blu-Ray discs for my media server box and then burned some Blu-Ray discs. Has worked flawlessly. Also, I like how you get both SATA and IDE data AND power connections. Great for a PC specialist like me who is always helping friends and family with their computer problems. A++
