I was surprised when my new Corelle cookware arrived. They are so thin and light they remind me of toy plates. Not that I think it's a big deal. With my aching back and rapidly advancing age, I see that as a positive trait. Another reviewer commented that they would shatter if dropped on a tile floor, which I'm sure is true, but the first time I dried the bowl it slipped out of my fingers and landed heavily on my tile floor. It didn't crash, but bounced off three times before coming to a stop without any scratches, chips, or cracks. I couldn't believe my eyes and immediately ordered a second set. Not only are they durable, but they come out of the microwave without getting hot. I don't know how many times I've burned my fingers reheating food on my old so-called microwaveable plates, which are often hotter than the food! Elegant, durable, made in the USA, what more could you want?
