They look like solid metal and when I put them on my hair they don't move at all. I was surprised to see how strong they are and I'm curious to see if they hold up over time. They also come with a small carrying case that easily fits all, although I probably won't be using that. They also don't pinch my hair or hurt my scalp when I take them out, which I like.
