Review on πŸ•οΈ REDCAMP Waterproof Car Awning Sun Shelter – Portable Canopy for Camping, Outdoor Activities, SUV, Beach in Beige/Army Green by Adam Roman

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Obsessed with this canopy 10/10!

with limited reviews we took a chance with this awning to provide shelter during our 3 month overland trip. I was hoping to add an attached retractable cover to my RV but since I have a high top it would have cost $$$$ and after an unexpected breakdown it was outside of my budget. Let me just say I'm so happy I bought this tent instead of the $700+ fixed tent. I needed something strong enough to provide both shade in the windy desert conditions and protection from the rain. I was immediately surprised how small and light the bag is. It took up virtually no space in my van, which was a huge relief. It took 2 people to complete assembly in 10-15 minutes and it was PERFECT for a van. The high top made it feel much larger than a traditional Ex-Up, and the sides gave us privacy on crowded campsites. I was also surprised at how much space it freed up. We used to be able to place an entire inflatable sofa underneath and turn it into a cozy place to wait out the downpour. It completely covered my two side doors and was high enough for the doors to open without any problems. This was the perfect spot for some shade but in rainy weather this brings water into the door so in the future I will be mounting it above the roof so the shelter is angled to keep water out of the van entrance. The shelter held up in moderate winds, although I felt more comfortable removing it entirely when conditions got too windy. Although I have only used this awning a couple of times I have taken out insurance and will update this review as needed. I would highly recommend this tent to anyone looking to enhance their car camping or provide shelter to a vehicle. For the price, I think it's great value for money. Update 09/09/21: I've enjoyed this canopy a few more times at music festivals and hiking. I've found this can be tricky with two people as the bars take quite a bit of force to slide into the pockets. I'm usually lucky when I have help, so it's growing fast. I've also noticed that the stitching is beginning to rip and tear in a few places. I suspect I can fix it with a sewing machine and live a few more years before needing a replacement. I get compliments on it often, the pages are light enough that I can roll them up and pin them up with just a few clothes. Pencils. I still give 10/10!
