Review on Dorman 674-272 Exhaust Manifold for Toyota Car Models by Francisco Holmes

Quality replacement part

Quality part. You can tell they used sand casting or something similar to form the header, but they did a good job of creating a smooth contact surface for the head and exhaust and I couldn't find any cracks. There were a few burrs on the inside of the ports which I filed a bit to avoid possible build up (not really necessary). As for the heat shield, which some said looked like hammered pewter, it was still in better shape than the factory shield I had and there were a few areas where you could see the metal had changed during of the punching process overlapped . , but I didn't experience anything like being crushed or hit with a hammer. He doses his work. I was initially skeptical of the seals as well but when inspected on arrival they were on par if not better than the OEM seals and other aftermarket seals I have used, the studs were a nice touch, since I was constantly fumbling with the screws holding the exhaust pipe. to my old collector. I recommend getting a set of cleats for your head if you don't already have them (I don't have them as I just replaced them). When you start the car on initial installation, allow it to warm up in a well ventilated area (which is where you should be first since you will be working on the car) as I found oil and other substances spilled onto the heat shield and manifold burn and formed a fairly strong cloud. (I pulled right onto the street and the local LEOs thought there was something wrong with my truck)

Pros
  • Rugged construction - durable materials resist warping, tearing and leakage for long life
Cons
  • Does not fit all
