After reading many reviews about the close shave I can get with a razor, in particular the open shave I can get with disposable razors is still better than with this shaver. However, the overall experience of scraping rough skin on a foggy morning is better with a Merkur razor. It takes longer, more chance of cutting your neck, but I appreciate the weight and the feel. I also found the general directions for using this razor to be odd. I don't think some of the people who made these videos actually use safety razors with a no-rotation blade. The smooth, low, flat top is there for a reason, and all the videos I've found show the razor being held at a _slight_ angle as the edge of the blade is square to the face. Especially with the open comb design, this leads to an effective shave from zero! The comb keeps the blade away from your face! Start with a sleek, flat top pressed against your face, then tilt it slightly toward the comb for MUCH better results.
