Review on πŸ’§ Efficient Water Removal: Wayne 57729-WYN1 EEAUP250 1/4 HP Automatic ON/OFF Electric Pump, Black by Tanner Miller

But great little pump.

This pump works great BUT the electronic eye that activates the pump can become clouded with dirt or debris causing the pump to cycle on and off constantly even when the water level is too low to activate the electronic switch to activate normally. We ended up wrapping the base in heavy nylon mesh (more of a privacy window screen than a regular window screen) and securing it with zip ties to filter out dirt and mud. Because this pump draws water from the absolute bottom of the pump, it draws out any sludge that collects at the bottom of your sump or window well. If the same sediment and muddy water dries on the sensor, the same thing will happen, resulting in you having to remove the pump and clean your eye, or worse, removing the impeller and cleaning it. The screen helped that we can remove and clean it which is much easier. But don't think that once installed, you can walk away and never think about that pump. Requires at least monthly inspection and quarterly cleaning if only relatively clean water enters the pump. However, dirt and leaves often settle on the bottom of window wells, so there is a good chance this pump will suck up more than pure clean water when it rains. In basement swamps, groundwater usually overflows or seeps through the mud; and even with a gravel screen, the water is far from clear. Sometimes we just unplugged the device and let the pit fill with water - it seems to clean the dirty sensor of dirt. Once the water level reaches a depth of about 3 inches, we turn it back on and it works perfectly - for a while.
